RE: (and inter) views

RE: has always been interested in reviews: book, film, visual art, and musical. In addition we plan to start conducting interviews of interesting people and organizations. In the future this page will be the place to read both varieties.

The first review, very soon to come, will be of a visual art exhibition entitled, It's All About Things, by artist, Luis Maldonado. It's All About Things was opened to the public from March 2nd to the 31st at Three Walls, a Chicago based non-for-profit gallery.

I'm glad you're also reviewing this show... I was wondering if you hated it? Personally I thought it was great but along with that whole DIY discussion everyone seemed to hate it. Thoughts?

Yiran,

Hey, thanks for the comments. Firstly, rather than spill the beens (can anyone say that anymore?) before I publish my full review of the show (which I'm hoping to do later today) I'll simply say that one of the things that I liked about it was that it made me think about the nature of commodities and the values we bestow upon them in an exchange relation, also, to me, it posed many questions, one being: what kind of qualities need to be present and put into motion, in both the "things" and the hands that they pass through, i.e. the subjects, for an any kind of an exchange to take place? One of the things I disliked about the show was that it didn't provoke, ask, or require me to ponder any of these questions any further.

I know this response sounds really wishy-washy (can anyone say that anymore?), but please check back soon for what I hope is a more full answer.

I am interested in what you thought though, as you said, it didn't sound like many people thought much of either show.
